What was the event about?

A groundbreaking and unique forum dedicated to exploring and debating challenges, opportunities and economic potential and, benefits of infrastructure development in Sabah and Sarawak. Financial institutions, policy makers, senior government officials, high ranking businessmen and experts from all over Malaysia attended the forum.

The keynote address was presented by Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Wan Abdul Aziz bin Wan Abdullah, Chairman of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad. There were two panel sessions on infrastructure opportunities in roads and highways, education, transportation, tourism, marine, oil & gas, water and energy with Q&A sessions.

Close to 150 representatives of companies from both East and West Malaysia registered for the event.

30 members of the media covered the opening ceremony and coverage in East and West Malaysian papers included 2 x front pages, 5, page 3, 1 x page, 1 x page 5 and page 22 of the business section of See Hua Daily News. It is estimated that the advertising value equivalent of the event was RM299,000 however this does not take into account social media.

Why was the event scheduled?
The BPIF aimed to provide a platform for industry players particularly from the infrastructure development sector to discuss issues, possibilities and opportunities in Sarawak.Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad and its partners, RAM & CIMB laid the foundations for improved business opportunities in Sarawak.
Conclusion

The forum was considered a major success with the target 80 participants exceeded by 35%. The event itself was well received by participants with one participant saying, “Before this I didn’t even know about BPMB so it was good to learn more about them.”

The panel sessions generated lively debate with the moderators facilitating the sessions effectively.

The event was given extensive coverage in newspapers and the event garnered impressive headlines and cover stories of local newspapers.
