The goal is not to create a website. The goal is to provide a solution to a visitor needs. And those visitors are only going to find you if you have the right content on your site.
If you have the right content, Google identifies you as a potential provider of solutions to problems related to search terms keyed in by visitors. Then you have to keep them on the site & provide an opportunity or opportunities for them to give you some information that will allow you to start building a relationship with them.
This might seem obvious but sadly it’s not always the case. Far too many companies pick a website based on a) the cost & b) the look or feel of the design & not the content.
But Google bots don’t care about how your website looks (although they expect it to be responsive & have recently moved to mobile first indexing which throws up a lot of new experience issues that impact your search result rankings), they are more interested in the content.
And while a consumer might like how a website looks, it won’t be enough for him to make a decision on whether to use a company because if the content doesn’t resonate with him he’s unlikely to register or return.
